On June 19, 1862, the United States Congress prohibited slavery in the US territories by nullifying the Dred Scott Affair. This was the most important day in the history of the United States for African Americans. This is because he helped black people get the rights they deserve. It also gave them rights they never thought they could get. This case of the Court of Scottvs. Sanford was a catalyst for riots, other court cases such as Brown v. Board of Education, Rachel v. Walker, and many acts and amendments stemmed from one man's desire to be free. Dred Scott was a slave to the Emerson family of Missouri. Emerson died early in 1846 forcing Scott to sue for his freedom. He soon lost the case in a state court, but shortly thereafter was presented to a national court. Scott soon after lost the case again but was later considered a free man. This case caused many good things and many bad things to occur. Some of these things include strengthening the Republican Party in opposition to the court's decision; and increased abolitionists to eliminate slavery which ultimately leads to civil war. There are also some negative aspects to the Dred Scott case, such as how it ultimately led to the Panic of 1857. It also caused riots like Bleeding Kansas. The system of checks and balances was also damaged by the Dred Scott case. This case played a major role in how African Americans live today and how they are accepted by people. Without the efforts of Dred Scott and the people who followed in his footsteps it would not have been possible for African Americans to live with the freedom and rights they enjoy today thanks to the Dred Scott case. Scott also made people truly understand what life was all about... in the middle of the paper... legislative branch, but he also strengthened all the power of the Republican party and its abolitionist ways. There were other things that helped me, like Rachel vs. Walker and James Tallmadge. These other cases and people really helped Dred Scott get his freedom and influence the world in so many ways that they influenced the world so that black people no longer have to worry about being whipped, shot or any racial discrimination without that justice intervenes. Dred Scott was easily the most important person who ever lived, he did so many great things. Dred Scott became a major topic throughout the history of the United States, he will also become the best civil rights activist who ever lived even though he didn't realize at the time that he would become a major celebrity in history. Dred Scott is easily known as the greatest person in history.
