Topic > Animal Rights: Laws that Protect Animals - 1867

Dating back to the 1600s, animal rights have attempted to fully become part of our society. Every state in the United States has a law protecting animal rights but they are not all the same, so animals are still in danger. They are endangered in many different ways which include abuse, testing and fighting. Animal rights do not only concern animals, but also humans. Those who abuse animals may abuse other humans. It is understood that animals can be used for the benefit of humans, but in order to reduce the risk of danger to animals and humans, there should be stricter penalties for animal cruelty and ensure equal rights for animals. Animals around the world are abused in many different forms including suffering, exploitation, fighting and experimentation. For example, they suffer and are killed for our pleasures, such as clothing and entertainment, which is unfair to animals. Animals are killed for luxury clothing and to keep the fur industry going. Zoe Masongsong, a research advocate, said the amount of animals killed within a year for our fur production would be the same as the population of Illinois. This is an entire animal state that is annihilated within a year for human satisfaction. There are fake furs that could be used in place of real fur which is similar in look and feel. Animals are also being taken from their natural habitats and taken to too many places around the world to be placed in zoos. In this way, our company can earn money by placing animals in small exhibits for children and adults to observe. Once they breed in those zoos and there are too many of them, the zoo starts killing them or shipping them to another zoo (“Zoos are supposed to save, not kill”). At the Copenhagen Zoo, a two-year-old giraffe was killed, in... middle of paper... without caring or feeling empathy for them. In conclusion, it is clear that animals can help with human benefits, but the lives of animals and humans are in danger every day. With the help of tougher sanctions, it will save animals and humans. Many abusers will remain in prison for a longer period of time and will not be able to own another pet. The United States will have equal penalties for all animal cruelty; therefore all animals everywhere will be safe from human killing and threats. Money will be saved from alternative testing and from leaving animals in their natural habitats. Animals will be saved from cruel treatment and will be able to continue to live their lives the way humans have the right to live theirs. To help save animals there are many places to donate to keep them alive such as PETA, PAWS and Humane Society. The lives of all animals are in our hands.
