MeditationIs meditation good for the soul? Meditation is the practice in which a human trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or as an end in itself. Many people reflect on this practice, so they are passive and do not dedicate time or effort to practice meditation due to the inner thought that says “is it worth it?” To answer: yes, meditating takes time, but the benefits you gain during practice outweigh all the negative contemplations that cross your mind before starting. Meditating takes time, but requires little to no effort. Meditation is the process through which you alleviate the daily "clutter" in your mind to find yourself in a more serene environment. What is meditation? In the practice of meditation we seek to free ourselves and instead seek connection at a deeper level of our being. Meditation is a process through which we seek to recondition our conscious awareness, so as to release our attachment to the superficial level of reality and instead allow awareness to gravitate towards a state of pure awareness, pure consciousness. When we meditate correctly, the experience of pure awareness itself moves to the forefront. (Barrett 2) However, there are some obstacles that one faces during the meditation process. From personal experience I have had problems with patience, meditation takes time but if you practice enough, it will be part of your daily schedule, just like brushing your teeth. Patience is one of the biggest obstacles people face with meditation, many people say "I don't have time to meditate, I'm already so stressed" but the point of meditation is to relieve all the "clutter" that... ... middle of paper ...... balance, lowered blood pressure and calm. An Ohio State University study found that practicing mediation, with just a month's worth of exercises, boosted natural killer cells in older adults, giving them greater resistance to tumors and viruses (Stephens). When the consciousness is cleansed of emotionally saturated memories, not only great freedom flourishes, but also great balance. A study conducted at Harvard Medical School found that meditation lowers blood pressure by making the body less reactive to stress hormones. Meditating is the process in which a human being finds himself, through stillness and tranquility. The human body itself is under stress, regardless of age, it is important to include meditation in the daily schedule. The benefit of meditation goes above all to the thoughts that arise in the mind such as: procrastination, impatience and negative thoughts.
