(A rating on the different scenes of the movie The Color Purple) Life is defined by moments and human beings are defined by life. We are not defined in the sense of how we react to problems that arise when it comes to our lives. Some people are strong and fight. They fight for their lives and everything they represent. They will never give up and will be confident. They still have trials and problems, but they know how to overcome the trials without them controlling them. On the other hand there are people who don't know how to fight. All their lives they have endured trials that have controlled their lives, but now they have no escape. Instead of fighting, they let everything slip away. Instead of addressing their problems they simply pretend it's not happening. Their defiance controls them. Celie knows there are people who fight. Her sister Nettie fought, but there is no fight in her. She died when all the people she loved were taken away from her. Now he has no reason to fight. He wants to live and the only way to live is to be passive and survive. Being passive is all she can do, until being passive destroys her. Within the Color Purple text there are three crucial scenes for Celie, when she meets Shug, when she reads her sister's letters and when she has her own shop. When Shug enters Celie's life it becomes a pivotal moment in the movie The Color Purple. Shug enters Celie's life at a time when all Celie is is a shell of what she should be. Celie is searching for meaning in life. A way to escape the life he lives in. Shug becomes his escape route. Unknown to Celie, they are similar. Both are facing struggles and challenges. Celie found a reason to fight. He realized that the world was hiding wonderful things... in the middle of paper... they are a bit annoying. They can find peace and love if they believe in themselves. Life's moments make up a person like scenes make up a film. Celie had to suffer her whole life. He gave up some of the joys that family could have brought. She was mistreated and beaten because of her appearance. No one looked below to see what it had to offer. His sister knew, but was taken away and Shug learned too, but never stayed. It wasn't until Celie realized her worth that she made a difference. Once upon a time, Celie knew she could do anything she wanted, and that's when she made a difference. She chose a better life and became something. She became something without the help of the people who hated her. When we fight, we fight for our rights and our freedoms, that's when we can become something that others envy. We must love ourselves before anyone can truly love us.
