A fictional story written by the wonderful author Lucy Maud Montgomery, it is set primarily in the lovely Prince Edward Islands of Canada. This story is about a light-skinned, very thin, red-haired orphan girl with a wild imagination. He travels around the world in search of "kindred spirits", meeting friends "of the heart" and enemies of the school. Let's take a look at Anne's life in "Anne of Green Gables." After her parents died of fever, Anne was taken in by Mrs. Thomas, as both her parents came from afar and none of her relatives lived nearby. Anne was with the Thomases until she was 8 years old. Mrs. Thomas didn't know what to do with Anne anymore, so Mrs. Thomas sent her away. She later went to Mrs Hammond to help her look after her children, having 8 children and 3 sets of twins; which Anne thought was too much. After Mr. Hammond's death, Anne was sent back to the asylum. A few months later Anne was adopted by Matthew and Marilia Cuthbert (brother and sister). After arriving in Prince Edward Island, she waited patiently for someone to pick her up. When Matthew arrived, Anne let her imagination be known by saying, “I am very happy to see you. I was starting to get scared that you wouldn't come get me and I imagined all the things that could happen to stop you. I decided that if you didn't come get me tonight, I would go down the path to that big cherry tree at the bend and climb up it to spend the night. I wouldn't be the least bit afraid, and it would be nice to sleep in a wild cherry tree all white in bloom..." and chatted all the way back to Green Gables. Although Matthew was a shy boy with women, especially young girls he didn't know, he found himself enjoying Anne's company. Anne's excitement was short-lived as Matthe...... middle of paper ...... was told that if she continued to work as hard as she did, she would soon lose her sight completely . Anne made the really big decision to stay home with Marilia instead of going to make up for it, she tried to take a teaching job at Avonlea School, but the job had already been taken by Gilbert Blythe. So Anne went to Carmondy. But one afternoon Gilbert came walking down the avenue, told Anne that the Avonlea school was his and that he had switched to the White Sands school, he knew Anne's situation and spoke to the board. Once again Gilbert asked for forgiveness and friendship, fortunately Anne accepted his apology and they became very good friends. I love this book so much, with all its happy and sad moments. I can't wait to read the next book in the series! Lucy Maud Montgomery is a brilliant author! Works Cited Anne of Green Gables
