The Life of Bill GatesWilliam Henry Gates III, also known as Bill Gates, was born in Seattle, Washington, on October 28, 1955. Bill, the second of three children, was grew up in an upper middle class family. His parents, William H. Gates Sr., a lawyer, and Mary Maxwell, a teacher, created a very loving and family atmosphere in their home. Growing up, he was strongly encouraged to strive for the best and face competition in a stubborn manner. When he was young, Bill developed a strong propensity for reading, even though he didn't read just any kind of book; he was mostly seen reading reference books, such as encyclopedias. When Bill was about twelve years old, his parents began to worry about his withdrawn behavior. Fearing that he would become an outsider to his peers, they decided to enroll him in Lakeside School, an exclusive prep school in Seattle. While enrolled at Lakeside, he thrived in nearly all of his subjects, especially math and science. Thanks to proceeds paid by the Mother's Club to the school, Lakeside was able to purchase a teletype terminal for students to use, thus allowing students to access computers. After taking advantage of this opportunity, Bill found himself completely fascinated by the actions and possibilities of computers. During this time, he also wrote a tic-tac-toe program that granted its users permission to play as the computer's own opponent. It was when Bill met Paul Allen, a man only two years older than him, that his fate was truly sealed. The two computer enthusiasts spent most of their free time together and on the computer. In 1970, at the age of fifteen, Bill went into business with Paul, developing “Traf-O-Data”, a computer… half paper… for a change, not only for Steve, but also for Apple. In the 90s he completely revolutionized the company. Many of its products, such as the IMac, released during this time have had a lasting effect on technology as it exists today; its products challenged all other companies, turning it into a competition. After Apple began to progress greatly, as seen by the American people, it began to release revolutionary products, such as MacBook, IPhone, and IPod. Thanks to Steve and his extraordinary help in reinventing the Apple company, in 2008, ITunes, from which half of Apple's current product revenue comes, became the second largest retailer in the music industry. At the moment, many magazines, especially Fortune magazine, have ranked Apple first in the list of "America's Most Admired Companies".”.
