Introduction Within every organization, there are leaders with their own personal motivation and reasons why they want to lead. There is some difficulty in understanding these factors and how to discover what motivates a leader to step up and take the reins. Transparency within an organization is a way to identify what motivates these leaders and also serves as a way to identify potential leaders. By having an authentic leader as a visionary, you will recognize him from other leaders as his imagination is as big as the vision he is trying to gain buy-in for his organization. In this article I will define the leadership styles of a visionary and the steps needed to inspire a shareable vision for a new division. I will further elaborate on the creation process and explain why I included these steps in my strategy. Leadership Styles In his article (Rehman 2011) states in the introduction that the leader is a personality, who has the ability to influence others and that leadership is what leaders do to influence the group to achieve some defined objectives. He then went on to articulate the various leadership styles that have been studied. Transformational and transactional leadership have been identified as the most studied in the behavioral sciences. For the leadership team tasked with creating the new Information Security Office (ISO), they can be identified as both transformational and transactional. My director encourages me to explore new ways of doing things and to be creative with whatever I'm assigned.
