IntroductionThe Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC Malaysia) was established in 1996 with the aspiration of becoming a global hub for ICT and multimedia innovation, operations and services, and transform Malaysia into a hub of knowledge-economy and achieve development nation status in line with Vision 2020. The number of companies having MSC status increased from 1994 to 1997, joined by approximately 2000 companies . Malaysia is the nation that lives by leading the master development plan in five years. Providing the ultimate context for these programs is Vision 2020, a national agenda that establishes specific goals and objectives for long-term MSC-related development. The main architect of this vision is the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Malaysians have strongly responded to its challenge to become a fully developed and knowledge-rich society by 2020. The length of the Multimedia Super Corridor is 15 kilometers wide and 50 kilometers long and is called the "greenfield corridor". MSC locations run from Kuala Lumpur City Center (KLCC) and down south to the site of the region's largest international airport, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), which opened on 27 June 1998. Putrajaya and Cyberjaya they are the two most important airports in the world first smart cities that are developing in the corridor. Now Putrajaya is the new seat of government and administrative capital of Malaysia where the concept of e-government is founded. Cyberjaya has become a smart city because it has multimedia industries, research and development centers, a multimedia university, and operational headquarters to direct global manufacturing and business activities through multimedia technology. Furthermore, MSC Malaysia becomes a country that uses highly infrastructural facilities as a global testbed for the application of ICT in Asia. Malaysia has become a unique corridor because it attracts the world's leading ICT companies to locate their industry in Malaysia. MSC Malaysia has managed to produce major companies in Malaysia. MSC Malaysia also makes a significant contribution to economic growth. We can observe some results from MSC's flagship applications such as e-government, My card, Smart School and Tele medicine. With these results it will improve the socioeconomic context and benefit public society. The flagship Multimedia Super Corridor is based on three key elements which are high capacity, new cyber policies and laws, and an interactive living environment.
