The effects of underfunded high schools are detracting from the quality of education students receive. There are many underfunded high schools across the nation. There have been many budget cuts to public education funding by the government. Indeed, many people have reacted to this, and some even protest: “The demonstration, [...] comes as recent state budgets reduced funding for public education to an all-time low in 2011” (Lin). It is important to recognize that schools across the United States today suffer from underfunding in schools. School budgets are continually being cut and even reach historic lows. These government funding cuts are enough to get people to protest and mobilize. Although there have been many protests and even strikes, no major changes have occurred. The quality of education, in turn, suffers from continued shrinking budgets, and will continue to do so as they lose more and more funding.
