Most of the time, when the nurse asked him if he was in pain, he stated that: “I have pain in my abdomen and right leg ten out of ten, even after receiving the pain medication". As a nurse I tried to explain pain management to him. Most of the time he refused to listen. During the evaluation, before giving him painkillers, I noticed that his vital signs were stable, without grimacing facials or discomfort. Every time I entered the room, he would ask me "What time am I due for the next painkiller?" before he even administered the initial dose. Then he would call the nurse ten minutes before the medication expired. When I entered the room I found out who was sleeping soundly without any sign of discomfort on his face. He woke up and said he was in severe pain. At the same time I try to consider myself that pain is subjective. My nursing assessment and the patient's statement did not blend together. Based on this, an ethical dilemma comes to mind
