We study the Holocaust so that we can remember the people who were discriminated against, tortured and killed by the Nazi German regime in concentration camps. We study the Holocaust so that we can recognize the madness of Adolf Hitler, so that we can stop him if he ever rises again. According to Edmund Burk: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." This is exactly how it happened the first time; the Holocaust happened because no one stopped it. We need to make sure this never happens again. Adolf Hitler started out as a simple soldier fighting for Germany (even though he was Austrian) during World War I. Hitler was blinded by a mustard gas attack during the war and heard about the surrendering Germans from his hospital bed. He was enraged by the "weakness" of the German government, so he planned a coup to overthrow it and take power of the country. However he was unsuccessful, as he was captured and thrown into prison for his actions. Hitler was sentenced to five years in prison, but remained in prison for only eight months due to his "good behavior". Hitler had spent his time in prison writing a book called "Mien Kumpf", or "My Struggle" in English. The book was an autobiography/library of all his political ideas. Thanks to this book, HItler became famous throughout the world and was loved by the German people. He was so famous that he was TIME magazine's Man of the Year in 1939. Although he was a maniac, he was also an excellent speaker. Hitler eventually became second in command of the German government, where he passed a law that eliminated the position above him. When the leader of Germany died, Chancellor Adolf Hitler became the supreme dictator of Germany. HItler began to pass the nonsense... in the middle of the paper... no conflict and nothing else). Japan sent numerous bombers to destroy the US naval base, Pearl Harbor, in which many people died. The United States then entered the war, aiding Great Britain and other countries. In 1941, Hitler invaded Russia in the winter, attempting to conquer Moscow. They failed, but Russia was weakened. In 1943 Italy was defeated and surrendered to the Allies. From that moment on, Germany began to lose the war. The Nazis began destroying their camps, killing what people they could and moving the rest to camps in Germany. HItler knew it would collapse, so he was trying to initiate his final solution as much as possible. When the Allies breached Germany, HItler killed himself and all the camps were liberated. This is why we study the Holocaust. So we can ensure that evil never triumphs by giving good men a chance to do something.
