There are many different types of characters in the stories and each one was described differently leaving a different impression on the readers. Reading some stories gives readers a feeling of empathy for the characters. Speaking of characteristics, it's good to know how a character feels to understand the story. Through this essay, I would like to show how stories make readers feel empathy towards the concerns, feelings, and problems of others. Referring to the readings “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” written by O'Connor, and “Bartleby the Scribe” Written by Melville, both stories described characters in a way that leaves readers with a feeling of empathy.
