These things start with respect, patience, honesty, and a good sense of humor for when mistakes happen. Etiquette is the protocol a person follows in a given situation, which can change depending on factors such as the time, people or places involved. Business etiquette is the unwritten protocol or rules a person uses to govern the procedures underlying a relationship between two separate entities. Considering the changes in etiquette from place to place and culture to culture, it can be difficult to overcome the barriers created by international business relationships. Since the company has potential dealings with China, this report details etiquette techniques for possible upcoming events and different steps to take. Meetings Meetings are important and are only one part of a multi-layered process; so make sure you are on time, prepared and extremely patient. First of all, each collaborator will be seen as a direct representative of the company and not as an individual; therefore the delegation should follow the guidelines established by this recommendation report. The second thing is that in Chinese culture, a personal relationship must already exist between business contacts, otherwise a formal introduction must be made before business relationships can begin.
