IntroductionIn this assignment I will examine the relationship between time management and stress in the workplace. I will discuss the implications this can have at home and at work. To lead and manage others, we must first be able to manage ourselves. Time management is a key factor. This report will demonstrate how good management can have a positive impact on performance and efficiency, not only at an individual level, but also at a team-led level. I will also discuss how stress can affect work performance, along with the various ways stress can be identified and the support available. The Importance of Effective Time Management Time management is defined as “the analysis of how working hours are spent and how tasks are prioritized in order to maximize personal efficiency in the workplace” (Collins English Dictionary) Time management is an essential skill, if managed well it will have a positive impact on professional outcomes and work-life balance From the leader's perspective, good time management skills will yield more time to spend leading. This provides support, motivation and morale to the team, making the whole team more effective. Good time management skills are recognized when tasks are organized and prioritized. This relieves pressure and gives confidence that the leader is in control. In comparison, poor time management can produce difficulties, increased workloads and show a lack of organization. Effective time management is the quality of time used, rather than the quantity of tasks accomplished. To be effective, important tasks will be given priority and more medial tasks can fill the spaces. If all media tasks take priority, then there is less time for the important task… middle of the paper… regroup, focus on the opportunities in the situation, and recognize whether it is worth the stress. 4.
