Cardiovascular disease affects blood flow throughout the body. “Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States” (WebMD). Two of the most numerous types of diseases are heart attacks and heart failure. Heart attacks occur when blood flow to the heart is blocked. Heart attacks, if not treated immediately, can be fatal. However, technology has improved to substantially reduce the mortality rate. Heart failure is another serious problem due to poor health. Heart failure occurs when “a person's heart muscle does not pump blood as it should… Not all conditions that lead to heart failure can be reversed, but treatments can improve the signs and symptoms of heart failure and help to live longer” (Mayo Clinic). However, exercise can prevent health problems and diseases and ultimately lead to a better life
