Saudi ArabiaSaudi Arabia is the birthplace of the Islamic religion and home to the two holiest shrines Mecca and Medina. This country is about 1/5 the size of the United States of America and is governed by the monarchic type of government, however in recent years there has also been a move to electing officials for provincial representation in order to unify the country. Its legal system is that of Shari law and the King is the highest court of appeal. Legislation has been created and put into place that describes the specific role the government will play and what it specifically has power over. Its oceanic borders consist of the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf, while its land borders consist of Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, and Yemen. This country is the world leader in oil and natural gas production and holds 20% of the world's oil reserves. The basis of the country's economy depends exclusively on the export of these natural resources and the price of oil. In the past Saudi Arabia supported the United States by allowing us to use their country as a staging area during the desert storm when Iraq invaded the country of Kuwait and the United States had to intervene and repel the Iraqi army. The US Army quickly left afterward, due to growing tensions with the public once the conflict ended. In this article we will look at some of the key demographics that make up the culture of Saudi Arabia and how they compare to that of the United States of America. These pillars are the religion of the people, the geography of the territory, the government of the country and the economy. I will also discuss some of the main factors that need to be considered when considering conducting an operation in Saudi Arabia. Relig...... at the heart of the document ...... during combat operations, commanders will not only have to consider religion, but will also have to consider oil operations. I bet many countries would become hostile towards the United States if something bad happened to the production and export of oil from this country. Due to the large bodies of water on both sides of the country, naval battleships and aircraft carriers will have no problem mounting sea and air strikes and support operations. The numerous large seaports would be ideal for use in loading and unloading land-based equipment to be used and shipped by sea. Works Cited www.bls.gov/eag/eag.us.htm.
