In the current generation, technology is increasingly becoming an important resource for our future in a wide range of areas, and has been incorporated into our lives to the point to be close to a necessity. In criminal justice, the use of technology has proven to be of enormous help in many areas of the field. The incorporation of computer systems into criminal justice has greatly improved overall communication between agencies and new methods of transferring information between departments. Furthermore, it has become much more resourceful and efficient as it is much easier to acquire data at a faster pace, therefore speeding up the time it takes to prevent or solve crimes. The intent of this article is to provide an overview of the efficiency of the methods by which technology is used within the criminal justice system. There are many departments both within and outside the criminal justice system that rely heavily on the use of advanced technology, as it appears to be of great help in many areas of the professional field, some of which include medical services, police fire and law enforcement. All of these agencies and many others now rely on information and communication for their tasks to be effective, and advanced technology has certainly necessitated true production and efficiency. Now it takes just a few clicks of a button to extract this information much faster with computer systems. Information can now be stored from building structures just a few feet away on a department computer, or even miles away from a remote location using a computer network system. Just as quickly as this information can be stored, it can also be rapidly distributed to all law enforcement agencies... middle of paper... a significant difference in how law enforcement officials assist, serve and protect the public. A beneficial form of technology used in the criminal justice system has proven to be a real asset to many. The use of fingerprint technology has come a long way in helping solve many crimes that would otherwise have gone unaccounted for or led to inconclusive results. The automated fingerprint identification system is fast and robust enough to get results in no time. Considering the enormous amount of stored fingerprint information, it is likely that this system will continue its use in supporting the capture of criminals and the identification of family members and relatives for a long time to come as the technology constantly advances. There is no reason to believe that this system is intended to make our homes and street communities a safer place for everyone.
