Topic > Social Discrimination in "Snakes" by Danielle Evans

The story turns out to be a real twist: Tara is actually surprised, not pushed as Allison admitted. Evans tries to imply that, due to the enormous amount of suffering that the character Tara has gone through, she decided to jump because with that jump she could be freed by the people around her. It could also be because she wants her parents to be there with her, since her parents don't seem to have spent much time with her; they are always busy with their environmental trips to many parts of the world. Tara wants to receive love and affection like any other 9 year old. It could also be a sign of rebelling against her grandmother and taking control of her mind and body, so as not to be stuck with Lydia. In our society, many parents often neglect their children, care less about them and their development. Nowadays, parents only drop their children off at daycare or school, but never directly teach them how to behave in the community, giving examples of taking and giving, and, most importantly, sharing love and affection. They are too busy with their own affairs and forget to give their love and warmth to everyone around them, including their children. In this way, children will suffer more from a lack of attention and will grow up without feeling loved. This type of situation could lead to lack of self-esteem and confidence, which will affect the mentality of children. Evans tries to suggest this to readers
